Flickr has not only helped me travel the world, but it is helping my rusty school French and German as well as challenging me in other languages. Often I can understand though I can't speak a word.
It is so much fun!

Seeing some peoples pictures of the places they have been has really put me in the mode to travel so i can get my own shots.

Yes. Yes. Yes. There's been excursions to India, Costa Rica, the Philippines and Germany. One of my favorites: Luodanli's fotos of Iraq. Definitely the kind of stuff you don't see on the news or even in other Iraq postings. All very artful and beautifully done.
This one here is one of my favorites:

that's amazing. It's part of what the internet allows. We don't have to see what CNN or MSNBC tells us about Iraq. A recent book I read, Linked, talked about how emails sent back and forth between a woman in Albania and a young man from california was the only real inside look we had to the country in crisis.

If anything Flickr has made me take more pictures while I'm travelling. Sometimes I see a photo oppurtunity and think, "that'll look great on Flickr."

Well, it's not like the real thing, but yes, indeed it has. I like adding contacts from distant countries, or those who do extensive travelling for that reason. Myself I also try to show interesting things about the place I live in, to share with others.

I enjoy seeing images taken by a person who lives in the area shown in the images. I really appreciate hearing the stories and seeing the comments that go along with them. I learn so much this way! It does seem like a Mental Spa of the Mind to go traveling this way.
Here is a lady who really has impressed me with her photography and sharing of her world: ayeona
