About What's In Your Bag? - National Museums Scotland
What's In Your Bag?
A new exhibition opened at our Museum of Flight this Easter, which looks at the age of commercial passenger travel, but with a site full of planes, that’s not the only travel-related display you can find there. Some of our other sites also have objects on display to set you in the mood for travel*.
So, with the holiday season on our doorstep, we thought we would ask the question ‘What’s In Your Bag?’ Whether it’s your handbag, the bag you take work every day, or the carry-on luggage from your latest holiday, just submit a photograph of your bag and its contents to this group following the guidelines below (or check some of the submissions from our museum staff for examples).
There are also some interesting discussions to take part in on the forum. We’ve got a few to start us off, and we’ll be adding a new one each month over the summer, so please come back to share your stories with us.
* Check out the discussion section above for a list of travel-related displays across our different sites.
How to take part
1. Take a digital photograph of your bag next to its contents.
2. Tag your photograph with ‘mybagnms’ and add a short description about your bag – Is it your handbag? Is it your carry-on luggage? And of course, what’s in your bag?
3. Add your photograph to this group.
Optional: If you are feeling keen, mark what’s in your photograph using Flickr’s ‘notes’ feature.
Please note that your submissions will only show up in groups if you have at least 5 public images uploaded to your photostream. Your images also won't show up in groups if you've set them not to show up in public searches in your privacy settings.
All submissions are featured on the ‘What’s In Your Bag?’ project pages of our National Museums Scotland website.
By uploading photographs to this group you consent to your images being displayed at the National Museum of Scotland (e.g. in a display about the project) and on the National Museums Scotland website (www.nms.ac.uk). National Museums Scotland is operating this project in line with Copyright and Data Protection legislation.
Submission Guidelines
- All photographs must include the relevant bag, not just the contents.
- Photographs taken prior to May 2010 are permitted.
- Only one photograph per bag please, but you can submit more than one bag if you like (limit of 3 photographs in a row and per day).
- All photographs must be suitable for a family audience.
- If you are submitting photographs featuring other people (e.g. holding your bag) please ensure you have their consent, and please don’t submit anyone else’s work as your own.
Any images deemed to be in breach of the submission guidelines will be removed from the group pool.
Please note
National Museums Scotland cannot be held responsible for any images posted to this group by third party users.
