About Your Art - Not Photography

Lets see your art. Fine art, illustration, comics, doodles, sketches, paintings, digital drawing & painting, collage, calligraphy, sculptures - Just make sure it is your creation and effort! The only photos allowed are ones of your work, such as sculpture, paintings and fiber arts. Photos of your art, not your photos as art.

Things we also don't want to see are quick photoshop filters or web toys like flickr toys - please check out some of the many other groups here for these works.

Why not art photography? Flickr is entirely about photography, and this pool wants to be a little more selective than everything.

Why not most digitally filtered photos? Filters, while artistic, were not made by you. Several people devised the bits of programming that allowed you and everyone else with that program to make the effect.

If you feel the deletion of a photo is unfair or mistaken, drop a message to the curator and state your case. Do not return the deleted piece to the pool. I don't have time to post a notice for every photo I remove, but if I do find someone breaking the rule persistently or excessively, I will remove or ban the offender from the pool. I do not like deleting. It makes me cranky.

Currently we are set to a limit of 4 photos per day. We used to have no limits, but it was found some members abused this badly. Please be selective. This isn't a contest to be in the top five poster list. Put in your best. Multiple variations of a single work may be trimmed down to the best examples. If you don't want the curator deciding this, again, be selective! Pick your best variation. Those interested in your work can browse your photostream without spamming the pool.

Additionally, remember this is a public pool and should be safe to people of all ages, so any works that are racist, pornographic, gory, or offensive will be cut and may result in banning. I haven't a problem with tasteful nudity, but I do have a problem with degradation or excessive violence here. Save these works for your own photostream or the pools classified on flickr for 18+ years of age or older.

Due to a number of people failing to read the rules, the group name was modified from "Your Art" to "Your Art - Not Photography" on April 10th, 2006 to better alert people not to include photographs.

Now, if all that hasn't scared you off, lets see Your Art.
