About West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (WYPTE) 1974 -1986The ‘West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’ (WYPTE) was born on 1st April 1974, under the revised Transport Act of 1972 and the reorganisation of local government in 1974. The newly created WYPTE combined the former municipal bus operations of Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, and Calderdale (formerly Halifax and Todmorden), as well as local rail services in the County. In doing so, the PTE inherited 1500 vehicles, 6000 staff as well as garages and bus stations. |
