The intended outcome of this project is a slideshow presenting images of every World War One memorial in New Zealand. This will appear in the area devoted to World War One in Te Papa’s upcoming 20th Century History exhibition, which will run for ten years. The images we use in the exhibition need to meet our resolution, format and licensing requirements.
Resolution
We intend to project your images of memorials at a large scale (3 metres tall, maybe even bigger) in the area of the 20th Century exhibition dealing with World War One. The higher the resolution of your images, the better they’re likely to look, so we’re looking for a minimum of 1024x768 pixels. Higher resolution would be even better, though it may be easier for you to post smaller files here on Flickr. Only the image you’re submitting for inclusion in the projected slideshow needs to be at this level of resolution. Feel free to post other memorial images at lower resolution.
Format
So that we can have a consistent presentation on the museum floor, we would like all the images put forward for the slideshow to be in portrait format, and framed to present the memorial as large as possible, without people. However, we’d love you to post a variety of other shots of your memorial here, in whatever format, with as many or as few people in the shot as you like!
Licensing
In order for us to display your images in the 20th Century History exhibition at Te Papa, you will need to license them to us (unless you have already licensed the images under Creative Commons).
This licence form states that Te Papa will not make a profit from your images.
It also states that Te Papa will need to license your images for the life of the exhibition (expected to be ten years). BUT ownership of the images will remain with you, and you can continue to use the image however you like i.e. it is a non-exclusive licence and you, the photographer, retain copyright at all times.
If your image is selected for inclusion in the exhibition, we will contact you through Flickr to fill in the licence form.
