Nanjing Expat was created by foreigners living in Nanjing who feel that Nanjing isn’t being represented in the light for which we see it—a city full of history, diversity and culture.

Although there are many english websites currently representing Nanjing, there are none that are truly non-for-profit with a desire to show the beauty of Nanjing and the true experience of foreigners in the city.

There are many foreigners in Nanjing who understand that we are guests in this country and are here because of the hospitality of locals. In light of that we have a responsibility not only as guests but also as ambassadors of our own countries, to show the same respect and desire for community involvement that we would in our own home towns. Ultimately, whether for the short-term or long-term, Nanjing has become our new home and with that comes responsibility.

It is our desire to make a platform for outsiders to have the opportunity to see the city we have come to love in a positive light, putting on display the rich history, the broad diversity and weight of culture that exists even in Nanjing’s most secluded corners.

Our final goal is to build a pro-active community of both foreigners and locals who want to bridge cultural gaps and become actively involved in charity, art and culture activities that promote Nanjing and cross-cultural responsibility.
