Wollongong Pictorial Mafia is a group of photographers bound together by location – we are either based in Wollongong and the Illawarra (on the east coast of Australia, just south of Sydney) or have strong connections to the region.

Online photo sharing brought us together and has given us the opportunity to not only pool our photos but also our experiences. We have regular group outings and meetings and we also provide a forum for solving photography problems or to conduct general photo chats.

Our members range from relative novices of all ages to photographic veterans, we work in digital and film and in a wide variety of photographic styles.

History:
Initially formed as Illawarra Photography Group in September 2006 by Livo.
First “live” meeting on 17 December 2006, there the WPM brand was chosen (from an old blog joke)
First theme month: August 2007
First exhibition: Globe Lane for Viva la Gong in October 2007
First official Christmas party: December 2007 (thanks miss panda and fam)
Photophlow chat room created February 2008 (thanks bugbits)
First Gallery exhibition @project artspace wollongong september 24th-28th 2008
Second Christmass party 22nd November 2008
Second Gallery exhibition @project artspace wollongong september 2009

Mafia is a collective group word that is omerta the code of silence pictures of all you guys that are wordless and voluminous in bonding people from all over the world to an aussie paradise called "Woolongong"
