About World Photographer's Award

They say, "A picture is worth a 1,000 words." and Flickr is proof that this is true. There are literally millions of photos with just as many comments. I wanted to appeal to as many photographers as possible and somehow give back to them for sharing their photo reflecting their lives, which helped start this group into more than just a dream or idea.



Why World Photographer Award?

To assign honor to beauty, oddity and creative angles in a photo that makes it that one-of-a-kind capture of life an expression of an individual. In museums around the world are expressions and impression of the lives of infamous artists. On our virtual walls in this group are some of the world most breathtaking ideas put on film and captured digitally. (WPA), World Photographer Award is that museum.

What kind of museum?

Imagine the Louvre and Guggenheim. Although these museums are vastly extreme and quite intimidating with powerfully immense high standards does not disqualify WPA from those ranks. Those same standards have been set and will be maintain here. You, the photographer help keep those standards and raise them each second of everyday with photos of balance and power. All photos chosen and allowed in this group have something rare about them, and I feel this should be expressed to those photographers in the form of a virtual award.

Since everyone has a story to tell and everywhere you look is a story, we all have, when given a camera and pen, can show a photo of that story.

I believe that photographers from all around the globe roosting at Flickr have at least a single one-a-kind photo. Here is where their work will be honored. Here is where we will showcase such photos. Here is where their names will be famous. Just as an Oscar, Emmey or Grammy is handed out for excellence in that field, please accept our virtual award (group logo) because it is highly esteemed when granted to such individuals.
