THIS IS A WORKSHOP GROUP TO LEARN TO OPERATE YOUR dSLR MANUALLY
Are you giving your (d)SLR camera a feeling of dissapointment and dissatisfaction because of not pushing all of it's buttons? Still using the 'green box' mode or preset settings?
Learn how to operate a (d)SLR camera the way it wants to be operated! This is the group in which you can follow assignments, as if you where in photography class .. Learn all about those shutter, aperture, focal length thingies!*
Every period a new assignment will be added to the group: hands-on funtionality about the camera, focus, lighting, etc. Users all post the results in the group forum and discuss eachother's work.

THE PHOTO POOL will feature everyone's best photos per assignment. Pick and submit your best shots!

ASSIGNMENTS will each be started in their own forum threads, like:
'[ AS1 - Title of the assignment ]' ..
In these, general discussion on the assignment can take place. Only threads by admins should feature square brackets.

DISCUSSION THREADS about your photos for an assignment should be started with the assignment code as a prefix, something like:
'AS1 - I can't get it to work' ..
This way, we keep the discussions in the group for future reference and the assignment thread and photo's comments section will stay clear of discussion clutter.
Here's how to open a discussion and how to put your photos in there (with special thanks to Lindenhouse):
1 First upload your pics to your Flickr photostream
2 Start a new topic in the group discussion 'AS1 - Title/question' ( I open a second browser windows for this and go back and forth)
3 Click on the photo in your stream that you wish to post so it opens in its own window,
4 At the top you will see "all sizes", click on that and a new window will open. The new window will look like this only with your photo not mine ;) :

5 Select the size you want - mine were medium size - Highlight and copy the text where it says "1. Copy and paste this HTML" (highlighted in blue in the sample)
6 go back to the discussion window and paste the HTML. Type in the exif data that goes with that photo or anything else you want to say about it
7 then 'preview' ...if it looks good, click 'post now' to finish
One note, I posted all my photos in one comment box with spaces between each photo, you can do it that way, or post one photo per comment box. Your choice :)

TAGGING of the photo's for this group can be very useful as well .. Probably the assignment code, with a short version of the group code like 'SLRTWS-AS1' .. Also it is useful to be able to find all shots for this group by adding a general tag, which should be '"slr tech workshop"' ..
You might want to add a link below te photo's you post in your stream for this group as well .. Just copy-paste the following code:
[ Taken for an assignment in the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/workshop">(d)SLR Camera Technique Workshop</a> group ]

[¯Ô¯] view results of assignment 3 (SLRTWS-AS3 tag)

** Next to members, this group also needs experienced photographers (Tutors) who like to teach, give hints, tips and techniques and think of assignments (f.e. panning excercises) - please let the admin know if you'd like to help out!
