About Woodward's
A long enduring icon in the city of Vancouver, the Woodward's department store closed it's doors back in 1993. But as the years went by there still seemed to be a strong connection to the place from Vancouverites. Over the years ownership of the building changed many times. Several plans were put on the table but they never went ahead leaving the neighborhood in dispair. The relighting of the W sign brought in a new era of hope for the area. Here we are in 2006 as a new plan for the site has gone ahead with much of the building already being demolished. An "edgy" new condo development will begin leaving only the original building at Abbott and Hastings to be restored.
After doing a quick Flickr search for the Woodwrad's name I came up with hundreds and hundreds of photos. So perhaps it's time for it's own Flickr Group!
This group is for your photos of Woodward's. The building, the W, the occupation/squat, the demolition, historical photos, scans of packaging, and the rebuilding! Let's see your Woodward's photos!
