About Woodland of the British Isles
This is a group for photographs which capture the essence of the woodlands of the British Isles as a physical geographic entity, i.e. - England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
All sorts of photographs are welcomed, so long as the main subject includes trees or a single tree in a wood. Let's explore and celebrate the texture of trees, their colours, shapes and sizes at all times of the year and in all weathers and lighting.
Other plants, birds, animals, insects, fungi etc., are fine too, so long as their setting in the photograph is directly connected with woodland or trees. For example, a close-up shot of a woodland flower such as a bluebell or stitchwort with a background (it could be out of focus) of trees, branches, leaves, an obvious woodland floor, etc. is acceptable, but a single flowerhead shot with none of these supporting items would not be accepted. It's all about context!
Please include an informative title for your pictures and a description which tells us something about the picuture - tree names perhaps, or why you like it.
In a Group like this which is documentary as well as artistic, it is especially important to know where the photo was taken. Photos must have location information in the title, description or tag (or any combination of these). Ideally, the photo should be geotagged. A vague description such as 'Yorkshire', 'Sussex' etc., is not accurate enough. If you submit a photo to the group and it gets rejected, lack of sufficiently precise location information is almost certainly the reason why. Anyone submitting photos to the group without location data is liable to be banned without warning.
