21 Feb 10 - Well, there are tons herps you can find year round in North America. Have fun herping & exploring, just remember to try to keep their habitat as close as possible to same as you found it (i.e. putting rocks back, rolling logs back, avoid causing erosion, etc). Preserving the habitat is one of the main ways to help wildlife recover from vast deforestation & urbanization.

About Reptiles & Amphibians of North America

This is for photos of native reptile & amphibian species found in the wild in North America (Canada, Mexico, & the United States). This group is designed to share photos of our unique wild herpetological species in North America, this is including introduced species found here (which might aid in tracking an introduced species progression). Please include either; a Scientific or Common Name & the county it was found in. If you found a native (or introduced) reptile or amphibian that you cannot identify or are not sure what it is, just post it and we'll do our best to figure out what you found. Also please try not to post photos of dead/killed herps, herps in Zoo's, or Captives. Though photographs of captives that you caught for research, education, photographing, etc. are acceptable. Enjoy our group.
