About Western Martial Arts
Anything and everything to do with the new "Western Martial Arts" movement - martial artists dedicated to recreating lost systems of combat that are native to Europe. The most common sources being the many German, English, French and Italian fechtbucher (fighting manuals) to be translated and published over the last ten years. Western Martial Artists can be found practicing amongst other things - boxing, wrestling, pancration, savate, smallsword, sabre, rapier, longsword, sword & buckler and spear. Fechtschules (Western Dojos) are springing up all over the world - most grading systems borrowing heavily from the Masters of Defense (which were based in London during the Renaissance).
