12 Mar 08 - I did a minor overhaul of the group description. Just reworded a few things that felt a little dated, and brought the "rules" more precisely in line with what has been our common practice anyway. Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

About WIT

Quick link: UNSOLVED PHOTOS!

WIT. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr

As a start, the name of this group stands for: "What Is This".

Also, see "wit" in a dictionary and you will get something similar to this:
1- The natural ability to perceive and understand; intelligence.
2- One noted for this ability, especially one skilled in repartee.
3- A person of exceptional intelligence.

This is like a game, someone uploads a (un-PSed) photo that does not show the object completely, and the rest should figure what is it.

No prizes, no awards, no nothing. This is just for Fun!

Some guidelines we try to follow:

Tag your photos (at first) WIT-unguessed so we can find all the unsolved mysteries in an easy way. If someone guesses the answer, you should remove that tag, and add WIT-guessed. If you end up revealing the answer (see rules below), change the tag to WIT-revealed.

The owner of the picture is free not to comment if there is a correct answer, so that we can have more guesses (this is a large part of the fun), but must not hold it more than 24 hours.

After 24 hours of guessing wrong, you must give a clue (what is it made of, what is it used for, ...).

After 48 hours you may reveal the answer, or you can let people keep guessing. If you reveal the answer, please change your photo tag to WIT-revealed.

After the answer is guessed or revealed, it would be great if you could post a picture of the whole object in the comments of the WIT-picture, so everyone can see what it is.

Do not post anything so blurry or so obscure that no one can guess what it is. Cropping an image is fine, but do not use any software (like PhotoShop) to obscure the image.

The persons who guess right will be listed H E R E in a ranking.

Suggestion: In your photo description, invite people to come play in our group with a comment such as one of these:

- If you like this, come join <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/wit/">WIT</a>!
