Yey!!
Well, usually the meets are a combination of the two... often we'll meet for a pub lunch then head out with the camera somewhere.
It depends what people want - if there are some peple who've not been to a meet yet and would prefer a more social get-together then we can leave the cameras at home, or if there's a decent event on nearby then we can make it more photography orientated.
What would people perfer - any suggestions?

Okay, so after a very brief initial search online, I've seen a few things that might be of interest to Wirral group memebrs, either as individuals or potentially (some of them) as meet-up ideas.
Wirrals' Guitar Festival: 4th - 28th Nov, www.bestguitarfest.com/html/index.asp
Oxton Art Fair, 22nd-23rd Nov: www.thebestof.co.uk/wirral/138512/3/event.aspx
RNLI Reindeer Run (Knowsley Hall), 30th Nov: www.rnli.org.uk/who_we_are/events/event_detail?articleid=...
Wirral Farmers' Market (New Ferry), 13th Dec: www.wirral.gov.uk/Events/events_0000385.html
Santa on the Run (Birkenhead Park), 14th Dec: www.visitwirral.com/site/whats-on/santas-on-the-run-p222721
Walk to Hilbre Island to spot the Grey Seals
Any opinions?

Also, I know there are a few of our regulars that like Pink Floyd - the tribute band "Think Floyd" are playing at Pacific Road soon too: www.thebestof.co.uk/wirral/137905/3/event.aspx
I might see if I can make it back from Uni, as I've seen them once before and liked them.

Hi ljcarrD300 , welcome to the group! It's probably a little quieter than usual on this group at the moment but hopefully we can get a few members together for a meet soon.
Feel free to post any suggestions on this thread too - the other members seem to have gone into early hibernation!

Sorry, havent been around for a bit! I've been a bit all work and no play play! I am determined to get to a meetup :)
We should do an event. Events I find are easier to shoot if theres others there - and they're great challenging and full of photographic opportunity :)
The sooner the better too! :)

I still say tapas!! If we plan an event and the weather's rubbish, then no-one will show. I vote a chilled-out Sunday afternoon with a big bunch of us! Maybe we can bring some pics with us and do a mutual critique/advice-type thing?

I don't think we could get to anything until the new year, we've too much work to get through before Christmas and we're working 6/7 days a week.

We may be able to fit in a chilled out sunday, somewhere with food, drink and warmth! Just find me in the corner asleep :P
However, that said, between now and christmas we have 3 weekends here, this Sunday I'll be preparing for a big meeting next week, and the 3rd weekend (13/14th) we'll be getting ready to go to my parents come the Friday. So that leaves us free with the 7th.
So unless it's that day, you'll have to count us out this time round. Too much work, so much to do, so little time :(
I may be free around April!

True photographers see photo opportunities in everything!
People can make this as photo-related as they want. Perhaps you could bring prints of photos you want advice on, or have a few things in mind you want to ask people about etc. There's inevitably going to be a natural conflict in terms of whether it should be a 'social versus photo' meet, but those that want to go out and take photos can arrange that at the time.
Perhaps tapas can be in a place that's within easily walkable distance to something photogenic. There's La Tasca in Liverpool??

I'm Santa Dashing in Liverpool on 7th, so I would be camera-less, unless I came home, had a shower and got changed (good idea, methinks!) then came over on the bus ...

Would that be feasible for you, Ruth?
We could make it a late afternoon/evening thing to suit people.
I should probably make my apologies early - I've been home six times in the last 8 weeks (£20 train fare each time, eek!) to do dissertation fieldwork etc, so I can't afford the time or money to come back before Christmas so I'll unfortunately be missing this one.
Happy to help arrange the meet though :-)

However I need to be back in Wallasey by 6pm - we do this German Advent thing on the 4 sundays before xmas, and non-attendance is only excusable by a doctor's note...
If it's later, I'll just stay for one and a snack - free all afternoon though.

With the German Christmas market there is always food - either hot or cold - as we've had the same (or similar) in Sheffield a couple of weeks ago and it travels from one city to another. How about a 1pm meet-up time? Would this suit everybody?
I'll send an email round to the usual suspects with this (currently most popular) idea!

Sounds good - market from 5th-21st. German food, cheeses, weird meats (kangaroo, ostrich etc), sausages of course, paella...and GLUHWEIN ( so don't drive!!!!) 1pm fine for me . No weblink as far as I know, saw a tiny piece in the Metro paper.

Lots of question marks there!
I'll do my best to include everybody and message as many people as I can (although there's only so many invites and only so much of my intuition I can use up when there's dissertation fieldwork data to be number-crunching and analysing... snore!)
So:
La Tasca (near the Marriott hotel in Queens Square) at 1pm on Sunday 7th December.... for tapas, natter and German market for photo opportunities - yes?!
I also found this on the website - a voucher for 5% off food (when spending £20 or more, on tables of 8 people or less): www.latasca.co.uk/images/stories/file/vouchers/dec5.pdf
So somebody click the link and print it off and take it with them. Tuna - you'll definitely be there, do you want to print it off?

I think if we pick a spot to meet at we should be okay - at La Tasca itself maybe. Also a few of us will no doubt have camera bags.
if you want to bring a non-photographer with you I don't see a problem with it. Not everyone will necessarily have a camera on the day (I don't think Sarah is taking hers for example), the same was true on the previous meet ups that I've been too.

Primarily, the meet-up should be for members of the Wirral group, but cameras are an optional extra, and if bringing somebody with you makes it more likely you'll come along then by all means do :-)
It can be as photo-orientated as you like, and as Dave (ap4a) mentionned, even the keenest photographers don't always bring their camera!
I suggest people meet inside La Tasca, perhaps at the bar - it will become obvious once the group grows as people arrive. Plus, meet-up veterans should have a keen eye for others from the group.
If people want to, you could post a small sized photo of themselves on this thread to make themselves more easily identifiable on the day....I know you all love putting self-portraits on Flickr ;-)

Domokun1979: Take some Vitamin C! Hope you can make it.
Matt: Sure thing, I'll look forward to a Wirral-based meet too... it's just that nobody had any firm suggestions. If you see a Wirral event advertised then let us know and we can set something up if other people are interested.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGG
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
So because of this I'm arranging a little Christmas walk over to Hilbre Island on Sun 21st. Just gotta check tides and ill get an exact time for those who want to join me. If the weathers MEGA rubbish then we can hit a pub, but I'd like to try and grab some bad weather stuff too!

I'm leaving for Paris at 5am on that Sunday - double booooo!!
Hope others from the group can make it though, I've been meaning to get back onto Hilbre Island for some time (I think it's been about 5 years since I was last being beaten by the salty gales there).
