Chase away the winter blues at the Winter Days Festival Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lorain County Metro Parks' Vermilion River Reservation. Experience the beauty of winter with indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family. On Saturday, local culinary students will compete in an ice carving competition. Watch as the blocks of ice turn into magnificient sculptures. Awards will be handed out at 2 p.m. On Sunday professional ice carvers will demonstrate their skills. Both days will include free sleigh rides, an ice harvesting exhibit, dog sled demonstrations, Bacon House tours, crafts, food (for a fee) and more. The sledding hill will also be open, and snow scuplutres will be encouraged as we enjoy the snow! Bring the family and spend a day celebrating winter!
