We accept photos & artwork of UK WILD birds, animals & insects, no plants.

DOMESTICATED/CAGED/CAPTIVE images- ie SANCTUARIES & Zoos will be deleted.

We like variety, so THREE photos of the same subject - different pose - posted at the same time will result in two being deleted. Sorry.

About Birds and Wildlife UK

This is a group of members who enjoy the "native" birds and wildlife found within, (and around the waters) of the UK (including Eire).

We accept PHOTOS of wild birds, wild animals and insects of the UK ~ England ~ Scotland ~ Wales ~ Ireland, (north and south)
( For your VIDEOS, follow this link : Birds and Wildlife UK VIDEOS )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* RULES *
Please make sure the photo includes a *native* wild bird, wild animal, water creature or insect found in the UK. Photos of non-British natives or captive/domestic birds/animals are not allowed in the group pool, and will be removed. (If you are unsure about your bird, please check out the BOU link provided lower on this page, where you will find all the British natives in categories A, B and C.)
Please make the bird, animal or insect the main focus of the shot and not a speck in the distance, (or a silhouette), as many members use the group for wildlife identification purposes.
(Artwork or digitalised images that change the shape or colour of the subject, will be removed for the same reason.)
We do like to keep the first page varied, so we ask you NOT to post more than ONE photo of the SAME bird, animal or insect at the SAME time.., unless by doing so you show another identification point.... i.e. the rear end of a mallard to show a close up of the curly tail, or the close up of a beak or head.
(Three very similar photos posted at the same time WILL result in two being removed – sorry.)
Please BEWARE of birds in sanctuaries - they are often NON-BRITISH species. Captive birds (especially those wearing traces,) will be removed.
It is against the law to disturb many bird species in the nest, or during the first few days of fledging, so we ask you NOT to post photos of birds in their nests or eggs.
Check out the link below to the BOU list (accepted birds are in categories A,B, and C) to help you decide whether your bird is native to the British Isles.
BTO LIST - A to C ~ As of May 14th 2012
Link to the BOU web-page for further details on how they categorise the groupings.
If you are not sure of the identity of your bird / animal / insect we do have a very active, (and knowledgeable) identificaton thread, where we will try to anwser your query as quickly as possible.
Please take the time to have a look at some of the other photos in the pool and leave a comment. We all like to get comments especially from those who share our interests, and whereas it isn't obligatory, it would be nice if you could find time to comment on other photos in the pool.
Thank you.
