08 May 12 - Ancient Forests - The Biodiversity Project celebrates the biodiversity of forest ecosystems. Our inspiration coincided with the UN's Year of Forests which sought to raise awareness on conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. The spectacular beauty of these natural spaces and their associated biotic communities are showcased by the group members. Please enjoy the group's photography and vote 'green' to protect our children's future.

Content Objectives
Our group accepts a relatively broad range of photography related to forest biodiversity and aesthetic values. Consider your favourite photos for submission to this Flickr group. The group's focus should be explained as follows. Only photography of endemic forest species in their natural habitats are appropriate. The IYF2011 group is invite-only but we do conditionally accept requests to join us. Photo submissions are reviewed prior to acceptance.

Landscape photography should be a better example of your work and be 'pristine'. Forested landscape is more important than other scenic elements such as waterfalls photographed in isolation. Great macro shots are welcome - i.e. insects, amphibians, flowers, fungi, mosses, or lichen. Please identify the actual species for plants or animals where possible. Other important concerns are as follows:

(1) Flora or fauna should have a common name and scientific name in the title or description.
(2) Imaginative titles can be a real advantage for a photo submission rather than simply relying on taxonomic classification (i.e. Common Name, Scientific Name).
(3) Geo-tagging is highly recommended for this project's global scope.
(4) Professional credits are acceptable for photos but should not be intrusive.
