10 Apr 12 - Mapping is the only easy way to ensure compliance with the location data needed to make the group function in the way its name suggests it should...ie: Places to Watch Wildlife......

Don't be put off - there are several very good freeware Applications available for download - we use Geosetter - or you can just use the Flickr map..... It's not difficult - Promise...

About Places to Watch Wildlife

This group was founded a couple of years ago, we hoped it would become something different from the myriad other wildlife related groups on Flickr.

The basic ethos of Places to Watch Wildlife is all in the name, it's about the place and what you see there, and when to see it. It's about showing others where, and equally importantly, when they can find wild animals, plants, fungi birds, insects and so on - helping others, if you will, to get out and see something new.

Places to Watch Wildlife is not about you, it is about you helping others through your postings.....With that in mind this group does NOT compell you to comment; does NOT have a comment code and does not threaten members with a ban if you do not jump though hoops to keep the admins happy.

The only thing we insist on is that your postings have a relationship to wildlife - including the scenery and so on, and that the locale is mapped......it's all in the groups name :-)

Most of the Flickr universe has become a "look at me" spot and that is fine - this group is about look at what you can see if you visit xxxxxx location.
-------------------------------------------

Whether you watch wildlife in your own garden, on a nature reserve, in a zoo or other form of captivity, or in the wilds of Antarctica, your material is welcome here.

We love to see the whole of an environment, its flora and fauna, the place itself, the scenery, the insects and fungi from micro to macro we find it all to be of great interest.

Lets try to show people where we go, and why we go there :-) Wildlife; does not exist in a vacuum, each species lives within an ecological niche, so the idea is show the wildlife, show the ecological context show the niche..........

Put more succinctly - if it moves, shoot it, if it doesn't move, shoot it anyway.....

The usual plea to keep it polite and clean :-) and please say Hello

if you wish to comment on someones images, please use your own words - it is a much more civilised way to communicate than simply cutting and pasting.
