LACMA event needs an deadline extension

view profile

Because the LACMA meetup is on the 28th, we really need an extension on the deadline for uploads to give our participants time to do proper post-processing on the photos. Can we say that photos taken during the official event can be uploaded until March 7 or something?

Honestly, I rankled a bit when I read that "not fair!"

Especially since people LA-way will have a whole month to shoot one museum.

How about making the meetup a post-submission celebration instead?

I agree - we shouldn't be changing the rules at this point. If you think this is going to be a problem, I would suggest trying to host the meetup earlier. ~shelley

The problem is that most of the people attending the meetup are ONLY going to the meetup itself, and some of them coming from as far away as San Diego (that's a 2-hr drive). Under the present rules, unless they get home in time that very night and work tirelessly at post-processing, their entries are going to be all for naught.

I'm only asking for the extension to be applied to photos taken on the 28th as part of the meetup, which ends at 7 PM. We're not rescheduling at this point; I sent out invitations in early January for people to reserve space on their calendars, and changing the date now would only serve to inconvenience everyone.

Howard,

I'm really sorry but we cannot allow this. Anything that is not in this group by midnight on the last day of Feb is not going to qualify. As I suggested, perhaps you and Allison could consider moving the meetup to slightly earlier in the month. That's the best we are going to do on this - rules are set and we are not changing them at this point.

The group is going to officially close for submissions at midnight on the last day of Feb.

How about if everyone uploads the photos in the museum with just the basic tag and adds them to the group at the meetup. Then they could do the advanced tagging and sorting later. Of course that will not help people shooting on film.
