19 Dec 09 - This is, without a doubt, the most comprehensive collection of burners on the world wide web. You have preserved in these photos a period of history when forests seemed endless. Thank you all for your contributions.

About Wigwam Burners / TeePee Burners

This group is for photographs of wigwam burners (or teepee burners), those icons of the halcyon days of the Pacific Northwest (USA) timber industry, when the supply of big trees seemed endless. They were used to burn lumber mill wood waste until the 1970s, when air quality regulations became more stringent. You can still find these rusty relics along the backroads of Oregon, California, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Here is a LIST of the existing burners.

Group rules:
- A burner must be obvious in the photograph.
- The burner location should be indicated in the caption, preferably tagged. If you can't recall the location, post the photo anyway, and request location help in the caption.
- No limits to posting, but be reasonable.
- This is a G-rated group for the enjoyment of all members of the family.

Please provide any historic information about the burner, lumber mill, or town that you know in the caption.
