About Why Democracy?

Why Democracy? Is the biggest factual media event in the history of the world.

October, 2007: Ten documentaries. Twenty-two short films. Over 30 national broadcasters. Hundreds of millions of viewers.

Democracy promises freedom, peace and prosperity. It promises its citizens rights, a voice and a vote. But can it live up to its promises? Today, some people fight for democracy, while others take it for granted. But why democracy? What¹s so great about it? Just because it¹s popular, does that make it good?

Share your photos of democracies, democratic institutions, protests, votes. Show us how you've documented democracy's flaws and benefits.

See the film trailers and get into the discussion on our website. Or join us on Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, and Writer's Café.
