About Whimsies, Flares and Echoes

Be good to each other. Have a look around in the pool and maybe even comment a few of our creative photographers.

This is a group to show us your unusual photographic expressions not seen in the usual mainstream of photography. A place to kick back and enjoy some fantasy.
A Whimsey would be to include a tiny bit extra in the photo that might usually be cropped or cloned out. The whimsey item would have some relationship to the main subject. For example: The tiny bug in this close up of the iris might have been dusted off the flower before shooting, so as not to ruin the shot. Including whimsies like this might make the photo more interesting.


A Flare is an enhancement of the bright light in a photo by use of filter or otherwise and included in the photo deliberately. The lens flare in this example was created by shooting at the spot where the sun reflected off a shiny surface; with a CS filter attached.


An Echo is a repetition of the form or color or both, of the subject in the photo. This example contains a smaller grasshead form and is in the same color.
