About Westernization

The story untold or unheard:

This is a group for people who want to share their encounters with a photo and a story combined about your personal encounters with the phenomena of westerninzation good or bad or whatever.

Synopsis:

Westernization, what exactly is it many people ask? Well, this is a very subjective thing based on history and predicting the future. Where we have gone and were we are going?

Entertainment sets the ideal Hero model:

Let's start with the media for example films. Who are the heroes that come and save the day in Hollywood most of the time? Usually clean shaven blond haired blue eyed in a Leather jacket, plaid shirt and a tight pair of blue jeans and a big gun. Rarely is it other people from the rest of the world. Why not a Pakistani or Afghanistan Hero? Or a UAE, Lebanese, or Saudi hero? Or a Moroccan, Spanish, or Ethiopian Hero? The list just goes on but keep in mind there is heroes everyday in all these countries not so acknowledged. They do good things to help people for example Muslims helping to rebuild churches in Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia and other war torn countries, or Syrian companies making sure there people have a good comfortable well paid lifestyle not allowing their products to be outsourced and undermine the economies of their country. Or India and Pakistan improving their educational system and working to create a wonderful space program. These are the unsung heroes doing what they do best everyday to help improve the world one kind act at a time.

As civilization began and our memories of where we started:

We the human civilization started in the Eastern Hemisphere, perhaps the area of what is now the Middle East. First traces of modern civilization as we know it began over 15,000 years ago and therefore human culture was birthed into existence in the form of art, tradition, fashion, food, music, faith, celebration and moralities.

Migration and diversification:

Humanity began to migrate outwards in search of new land and resources and long with this new cultures, languages and traditions developed strengthening our species ever bolder than before. New cultures would form from old cultures and cultures would multiply and diversify, there never really was ever a denominate culture of anykind to speak of even as recently as 500 years ago.

Phenomenon:

After the ages old East in all it's wisdom had been around for countless 1000s of years there was a new competitor in the neighborhood that would come from a new civilization from the western hemisphere only 100s of years old. After times of antiquity, the golden age of Islam and the renaissance the West made some extreme and rather extravagant advances in technology, science and breaking down barriers of the old world but along with this came colonialism in one form or another from many countries of the West that would get a foothold in the East whether it be for resources, political and so on. Some western improvements were made in Eastern countries but oftenly at great cost to subjugated countries culturally, environmentally, and politically. This would go on for sometime until many of the peoples in these countries would rebel violently or peacefully to drive out their occupiers from the West but not without an afterglow left behind.

The Western Influences of today:

Should one culture dominate all others or should their be a balance for all cultures in the world today? Lets talk about both sides of the coin here:

Heads: The West has many positive attributes from invention, to innovation, democracy only as long as it is not forced in other lands, art, football, daring to push the envelope in most professions but the West is young and adolescent and has alot to learn about how the world has been long before the West existed.

Tales: The East has many positive Attributes from ancient wisdom, faith, tradition, art, fashion, food, celebration, resourcefulness, technology from ancient to modern and also invention. The East must be parental and understanding and help teach the young societies of the West about respect, humility and and handling affairs in other lands with kid gloves.

Both are cultures really with their own unique traits but somehow Eastern culture on most levels seems to be disappearing as we progress as a society even though Eastern culture is the parental culture to the world. What is happening? Why? It doesn't seem western culture adopts many traits of Eastern culture but Eastern culture seems to adopt alot of traits of western culture. I find that odd. For a culture so young and new to the world it has managed to find it self as the dominate culture which can be found in most places in the world today from the food we eat, to the music we listen to the decor and styles in which we build our houses and buildings with to the clothes we wear to the entertainment we watch. Do you live in a country were you are told you should westernize to have a better standard of living to a better lifestyle?

Conclusion:

When I get down to the bottom of this observation and even my observation is probably not the worlds greatest I ask the question is a uniculture world a good future for humanity? The situation is extraordinarily vast and complex in everyway probably hard for me to even understand myself but I ask anyway like why is the sky blue? No one really forces anyone to be westernized the way I see it, it really is the people's ultimate choice should they choose to be westernized and feel it is better. In the conclusion from my heart I feel that a world with both halves is better than just a half of world. Their should be both highly advanced Eastern and Western societies where one does not dominate the other but both embrace each other and work together sharing what knowledge they have as a team for a better tommarro.

Group Guidelines:

This is a group open to anybody from around the world. Feel free to post a photo or photos but be sure your photo includes a story or a poem expressing your views on westernization. I have expressed my view, I would certainly like to hear other people's views now. This can include stories about colonialism, commercialism, culturalism and so on or stories about your own experiences good or bad as a result of dealing with western influence.

Group is a philoshopical study cultural awareness group. This is NOT a political group anti-west or I hate the west group: I personally happen to love both eastern and western mega civilizations so please do not make this a political group. There is to be no hate of anykind. Only loving kind conversation expressed here. This is a unique place for fun to be creative, expressive and to share your views with others. Please be civil and respectful to each other and do not bully each other if you do not happen to agree with one or another's viewpoint.
