The following sections of the river are classified by the National Trust as 'Level - Local' (no L10028); Strathtulloch' and 'Exford' environs, Melton Reservoir to Cobbledick Ford. Environs of 'Eynesbury' - includes Toolern Creek area.

National Trust's Statement of Cultural Heritage Significance:
This is a fine example of the rivers which cut deeply into the Western Plains. The river contains Platypus, and hollow River Red Gums provide faunal habitats.
