About Linden Labs & the protest at the adult content changes in SL

In March, Linden Labs announced they would be making changes to the way people would access content inworld.

At a date yet to be confirmed, all residents of Second Life who wish to access content deemed "adult"; by Linden Labs will be required to have their account verified. Either through providing verified payment details to XStreet SL or to Linden Labs or by using a company called Aristotle who have been chosen by LL to provide verification services.

Apart from two blog postings and one active thread on the forums, Linden Labs have chosen not to advise the residents of Second Life that this will be occurring.

As part of this policy of content separation, all businesses that are considered to advertise or sell adult content or services will be required to move to a new mainland continent or if they are on a private estate it must be flagged as being adult. Unless your account has been verified, you will not be able to enter any of these lands.

Currently there is a discussion period underway, but it has become apparent that LL will not be taking the residents concerns into account when implementing this.

At the moment there is a large discrepancy between the proposed policy detailed on the knowledge base and what is being said in the forums by Linden Labs representatives.

This group is to show support for those pressuring Linden Labs to be more responsive to the wants and needs of their customers.
