Thanks, Occam :-)
Not sure how I ever came up with it, but I think it will give everyone an opportunity to be really creative!
I already have a few visits I've been intending to make so now will be the perfect time.

Shoot! Got to this a little too late for the flowers - have a few nice ones, and there are very few waymarks here in Korea that aren't mine. Maybe I'll be able to find a few of the others. Now I just have to figure out how to post my pics.

I'm just back from a 4,500-mile long road trip (9 days) and laden down with coords and photos from every stop along the way..... only to find that most of these (what I thought were obscure) locations have already been waymarked! If you've ever found yourself in that situation, you'll know what I mean, and hopefully you took the time to VISIT those Waymarks. If not, now's the perfect time to start ....
The April 2009 Contest will be an opportunity for you to show off your photography skills while visiting what might seem to be an otherwise visually un-inspiring location. Even the least glamourous historical marker or fast food restaurant can become a dazzling photograph when you use your creativity.
Crop..... Morph..... Turn it into a B&W..... Make it a micro...... Colorize...... Capture it from an unusual angle.......
Just make sure that the Waymark is clearly visible, your photo is tagged WMK0409, there is a link to the Waymark in your title or description, and you visited it this month. Otherwise, anything goes.
As always, have fun :-)

Okay, I'm real new to Flickr and had a hard time uploading - multiple failures, but I've got three photos of a visit to a waymark. I think I got the proper tag added. It is not the best set of photos, but there aren't very many waymarks here in Korea to visit that are not my own. These are of Seoul Station, built in 1925 by the Japanese occupation forces, and now designated as National Treasure No. 284.

The photos look great, silverquill. You did just fine :-) Looks like some 'western' influence in the architecture... Interesting history, too.

I'm guessing everyone is out there busy visiting Waymarks, but please take a few minutes to submit your favorite photos this month....
This contest will continue until May 4th since I'll be out of town with sketchy internet access, so there's still plenty of time to make a visit and entry a few of your best photographs.
Thanks for some more great entries this month!

Oh, thank you for extending it! I'm not sure if it will help me or not, but I've not been getting out much this month. I might be able to get a couple in town (that I haven't already) while heading to Physical Therapy, but I dunno. Anyway, our family is going to Rosario Beach for our annual church campout May 1-3. Perhaps I can grab a visit on the way there, and post it while relaxing on the beach. ;-)

Yes! yes! please show us some pretty beach pictures. For those of us roasting in California and those of us still burning the woodstoves in Central Oregon.

Very nice Ambrosia.
By contrast, here is a Michigan beach scene. It ought to cool you off:

OK, it was February. A bit early in the season.

Well, April has come and gone (as has the short season they call Spring here in Central California). There were 22 entries in last month's contest - Waymark Visits This Month - and every one of them a dandy. It's gonna be another tough decision, but I know everyone's up to the task.
You can vote for your two favorites here!

I didn't get all of mine posted in time. The place I was at had poor internet, so uploading was difficult. Getting back from the trip late last night and today, I'm wiped out so I didn't add anymore like I had hoped.
But, I had a good time visiting some waymarks this weekend. I hope to add the pictures to the Waymarking group when I am able.
I like the variety in the contest pictures for April.

A big OOPS on my part... There is one awesome photo that did not get included in the collage and/or poll ... my apologies to marbill1! Seeing that voting has started, I'm not able to edit or modify the poll so ... here's the photo... WM3EMH Caboose - Central, SC
Any votes for this photo can be emailed to me and I'll count them when the poll is closed.
Again, sorry about the booboo.

Sorry for the mix up marbill1. It's a great photograph. Hopefully there will be another contest where you can submit it again. I think we need to suggest contest ideas that can bring it back. Flowers (er.. no, we just did that one), Flowering trees, not another caboose, Near the end, Rail tails, Last part to leave the station, something like that. We've got to give that nice photo a fair shot.

Public art? Are you kidding? I only have a few hundred photos to look through. I hope I can find a gem or two.
How do we vote? Is it still open for the April vote?
I didn't understand about the tagging, at first, so I'm sure I didn't get my flowers in. Oh, I think I got in late on that one anyway. Just went to a huge flower exposition - what a display!

Yes, silverquill, some of your flowers did get in... and you will see them and can vote here until the end of May for your April favorites.
As for tagging, you must have done it right, but basically the tag consists of 'WMK' followed by the (two digit) month and (two digit) year, for example... this month the tag will be WMK0509. I don't know if it's critical, but you should probably send the photo to our group (Flickr Waymarking) so it appears in the pool, also. Other than that, it's all done by the website - sort, select, show.
Public art - Yes! I think each of us has a good amount of this Waymarked .... I chose a photo that I wanted to share first because I loved the art (and the Waymark)..... then selected my favorite photo. But it is a tough one, and I'm still debating about some others.

No biggie about the picture. If that's the worst thing that happens to me this month I'll consider myself lucky!

Wow! April had 22 entries for Visits This Month. That's great! Only four people voted, and Ambrosia_apples' DECEPTION was the grand prize winner! CONGRATULATIONS!
I also visited that Waymark a year or two ago and it's awesome - a must see for anyone in the Seattle area... And the water really is that green :-))) Ambrosia_apples captured it very well!
