Athena's Pix (a group admin) says:
12 May 09 - The city and county of Waterford in Ireland's south-east, has had a chequered history. Evidence is all around of ordinary daily life over the eons, as is that of the more elegant living.

From the Megalithic to the more modern, there is an abundance of material which relates to Waterford's heritage and historical past.

Please add any good photos on the topic, and if you can add some info then do, so that we can create a pool of images about the past!

About Waterford's History in Images

The city and county of Waterford in Ireland's south-east has an interesting history. From Gaels and Celts and others, to Vikings, and Danes like Sitric who established Ireland's first city there; to Strongbow;-one Richard de Clare, Earl of Pembroke- to English Kings and Oliver Cromwell; to Hugenots, Edmund Ignatius Rice and Thomas Francis Meagher, to the Penrose Brothers, and so many more have lived in Waterford and helped shape the City and County that it is today.

Dolmens, Ogham and portal stones, lime-kilns and mine-shafts, churches, castles, towers, plaques and statues; there is so much rich heritage in the area. It would be a hard job for one person to capture all of these and so I ask you to submit your own shots here of some of these things from the Déise, so that we can build a pool of images to show the world what we have in Waterford!

Buildings, small items, montages, landscapes describing historic events etc etc are most welcome. I'd be very grateful if you could provide a location whether by naming or tagging, and if you know any information about the subject photographed, then please add it too, no matter how small.
