About Washington County, Maryland
From Sideling Hill to South Mountain, from the Mason-Dixon Line to the Potomac, Washington County encompasses some of the most beautiful landscape around. In rural farmland and in the various towns - Hagerstown, Boonsboro, Clear Spring, Funkstown, Hancock, Keedysville, Sharpsburg, Smithsburg, and Williamsport - history and development clash. This history is seen at Antietam National Battlefield, but also in the many stone bridges crossing the Antietam Creek.
