Magic Moments

Anybody have stories of 'Magic Moments' at WDW? Perhaps something special that a castmember did for you or your party that stands apart from all other Disney memories as being something really amazing?

Here's mine:
It was 1991, and my family was meeting another family at WDW. We had traveled to WDW twice before, in 1979 and 1981, and we were all very excited to be going again. (Remember, in 1981 there was only the Magic Kingdom and only 5 resorts to stay at... no Epcot yet, no MGM Studios, no big water parks. We were thrilled to see all the changes that had been made.)
We had stayed at the Polynesian in 1981, and we were staying there again in 1991... or so we thought. When our friends arrived to check in (they had had traveled to Florida ahead of us for a few days to visit family in the area, but we were all starting our WDW visit on the same day), the Polynesian staff informed us that, yes, they had our reservations, but they had overbooked and there were no rooms for us.
So my friend Eric, then just 13 years old, piped up and said, "That's okay. You can just put us in the Grand Floridian instead." The Grand Floridian was still pretty new--just a couple of years old--and it was waaaaaaay out of our price range (still is). But the castmember checked the computer, and they put us up for a week in the Grand Floridian (at Polynesian rates)! It made a very special trip even more special and more memorable.

Nice! I want to say something similar happened to my old neighbors. They were staying at either the Contemp or Poly and after their first day at the park, they went into their room and there was other peoples stuff in it (like bathing suits, towels, etc). They immediately went to the front desk and somehow two sets of keys had been issued to that room. They were bumped up to the Grand Floridian for the rest of their stay. :)

Well, my favorite magic moment was that my boyfriend proposed on our Disney trip in October! :)
As we went during the "year of a million dreams", we got a couple of the Disney Magic Moments. We won lanyards with special pins from being in the right place at the right time.
And one day at Epcot, we saw this pair standing in Disney attire next to a roped off section near the water. We asked them if they had any advice on where the best place was to view Illuminations that night. They smiled and replied that the best spot was right behind them and that only a select few could go there. They then handed us "Magic Moment" cards and told us to return just before the show. We were in a special reserved section and had the very best view. It was awesome!

My family went to WDW this past May. My Mother and Father paid for my kids to go, and paid the hotel rooms for my little sister and her husband and for me and my boyfriend. My boyfirend made arrangements to go to the california grille during the fireworks. When we were getting the bill, (just before) the waiters came out with a plate covered with a dome ( I have no idea what those are called) inside was a ring box and the words "will you marry me?" written in chocolate. He got down on one knee and asked, and the whole place applauded.

This isn't as cool as the others but it's my favorite moment that I can remember. My father and I were staying for our second time at the Contemporary and we were just checking in. The person checking us in said we had been upgraded to the 12th floor or the conceirge floor since we had stayed there so many times. That was our 25th stay. We had free food, free alcohol, free pop, free bathrobes, free internet access and conceirge service on the floor itself. We also had one of the best views of Cinderella Castle too. We could see the people waiting for the buses and watch the fireworks.

I would say my magical moment was my wedding at the Wedding Pavillion, next to the Grand Floridian in 2005. We spent 2 weeks at the parks and on the Disney cruise. Now we live in Florida and go at least once a month if not more with our 9 mo. old daughter.

My magic moment happened on my birthday this year. I was waiting for the parade on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and wearing my Birthday Button when the Main Street Quartet stopped in front of me and sang Happy Birthday to me. Eventually everyone waiting for the parade starting singing and gave me a standing ovation.

We had several things happen to us while we were in Disney World during the last week, of April 2007. We had went to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary and when we checked into the hotel, we told them about our anniversary and we were given buttons to wear that said Happy Anniversary and they had Mickey and Minnie on them. Here are our moments:
Wednesday, April 25 I had forgotten something at home and had to have it “overnighted” to me. I had to wait for the package to arrive before we could leave the hotel. It was 12:30 PM by the time we arrived at the Animal Kingdom. We headed straight for the Kilimanjaro Safari ride to get a fast pass. When we got there all the fast passes had been given out for the day. We were about to get in line for a 40 minute wait instead when a Cast Member stopped us and asked if we wanted fast passes. I think he had seen my anniversary pin. Of course, we said yes and we were on the ride in less than 5 minutes.
Thursday, April 26 We got fast passes to Big Thunder Mountain. While we were waiting for our fast passes, we rode a raft over to Tom Sawyer Island. As we were riding the raft back to the “mainland,” the driver told us “happy anniversary” and asked us to wait for him after we got off the boat. He gave us fast passes for both of us to ride Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain. We rode Big Thunder Mountain with the fast passes he gave us. Since we already had fast passes for Big Thunder Mountain, we gave ours to two teenagers who were about to get on the ride. We decided against Splash Mountain since we were eating at the California Grill in a few hours.
We caught the monorail to the California Grill. They of course saw my anniversary button and had a photographer come over and take a complimentary picture of us as a present. We got a dessert with caramelized bananas, phyllo dough, butterscotch crème brulee, and a chocolate piece that had “Happy Anniversary from the California Grill” written on it.
Friday, April 27 The Voices of Liberty were about to start performing at the American Adventure in Epcot when a gentleman dressed in colonial attire came up and asked my name. I told him my name and he asked where I was from. I told where I was from and he said that “they” had been trying to get a hold of me. I was worried that something was wrong. He told me to come over to this house phone. My husband and I went over there and picked it up and dialed the number he told us to dial. On the other end of the line were Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse singing “Happy Anniversary” to us. After that I told Joe to go get us a spot to hear the singers and the gentlemen came back over and gave me a certificate that we state that we had a “Magical Moment” for our 7th wedding anniversary and he signed it in calligraphy. Then he told me that he would take us upstairs to hear the group. There is a balcony section upstairs that overlooks the area where the group sings and we got to watch them from there. After that, we were taken into the theater in the special section of seating in the back of the theater for disabled people and we got a whole row of seats to ourselves.
We had a great time, and I don't think any trip to WDW has been some memorable for me.

Dang it! We went for our anniversary last year, and they gave us the "Happy Anniversary" buttons, but we just left them in our luggage as souvenirs! I guess if we had worn them, we might have been selected for a little more Magic!

We went to Disney in September when they focus on Preschoolers. My daughter was 4 and we went to the Magic Kingdom Preschool Extra Magic Morning hour, and Dale approached her and took her hand and the 2 of them were the first to ride Cinderella's Carousel that morning. He interacted with her throughout the whole ride. It was definitely a special moment.

In 1974, my kid sister was 5 years old; and her favorite character was Peter Pan. We had stopped in Fantasyland to get ice cream cones when Peter appeared. She was so excited and ran to meet him. Unfortunately, she dropped her ice cream cone along the way. When Peter saw her crying, he immediately came over and got her a new cone....plus Mickey Mouse ears for all three of us kids. Catastrophe averted with pixie dust!

Nextel [deleted] says:
This one was something like no one has posted before. Cast members are great. But there was this one, a waiter at the beach club, that was very great. he didn't talk to us like they normally do. He talked to us like we were buddies at a bar. I asked him what the difference between chip and dale, and he said "chip has a nose like a chocolate chip, and dale is like an old alcoholic"- it was the funnest thing I heard while on the trip. I went back the previous year and didn't see him. he was a great waiter.

I have to agree with Nextel, the cast members are great. Last year I stayed at Old Key West. If you have ever stay there you will learn to hate the Buses. I got stuck at the Hospitality House and the buses that stop at the hospitality house leave the resort. After explaining to a bus driver that I couldn't get back to my room he told me to get in and he would take me. I thought he would drop me off at the bus stop at Old Turtle Pond. I was shocked when he pulled right up in front of my building to let me out. My wife was outside smoking a cigarette and couldn't believe it when the bus pulled up right to our door to drop me off. If anyone is thinking of staying at Old Key West please take some advice and rent a car. LOL.

This year we went to Orlando in mid-February for a wedding. We had to go to WDW, of course, and my two daughters are VERY tall for their ages (3 1/2 and 5). Because of this, some of the toddler areas were too "small" for them. My youngest was SO upset that she was too tall for this one area (I think it was in Adventureland around the train station by the bathrooms) that she just bawled. One of the cast members who had been cleaning the men's room came out and talked to her for a bit (he had an Australian accent; I could've listened to him talk forever) and then told her if she'd smile for him he'd give her a sticker. So, she did, he did, and it was SO CUTE. She was so proud of that sticker!

I live in the UK & went to WDW last October with my partner, who has 2 titanium hips & also is recovering from chemotherapy so she cant stand for long. In the Magic Kingdom we were waiting for the parade & she sat down out of the sun. She realised she was in the disabled section & being crowded out by fat people on mobility scooters, one of whom was quite rude to her (she doesnt look mobility challenged) She moved over to me where I was sat on a wall in front of the Hall of Presidents in the hot sun, but she's quite emotional these days & started crying. A cast member came over & asked what was the matter. After explaining he went off & came back 5 mins later to take us to the VIP seating section on the bridge to view the parade. It was in the shade & all the cast members in the parade look straight at you. I love how friendly all cast members in WDW are, (even wait staff & bellhops), how they hate the thought you might not be having a good time & will do whatever they can to make your experience a Magical one. There is nowhere like Disney & no one does it like Disney does..

Well I am 14 now and have been to Disneyland Florida once and Disneyland Paris twice ,once of which i was there before I was even born!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My family were in Disneyland 3 weeks before I was born . And now I am COMPLETELY OBSESSED with anything to do with Disney now .
In 2008 I went to Disneyland Florida and as I walked towards the gates of Magic Kingdom I saw a flower bed in the shape of Mickey Mouse and the closer i got it was as if he was winking at me and laughing just like the old tv add .
Then when I was in Hollywood studios I got a certificate for getting every question right in a High School Musical quiz ,as a magic moment in the year of a million dreams . As i am the HSM NUNMBER ONE FAN .
Last year in August 2009 I performed with Spin Dance and Fitness Stage School as part of the Disney Magic Music Days Program . And I stayed for a week in The New York Hotel and it was AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE . (well that would be an insult it was waaaaaaaaaaay better than that ! ) . When we were performing we got to go back stage and into the cast members only zones ! it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!
We also wore cast member t-shirts and were able to skip some of the ques !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basically Disney cant be a simple single magic moment , it is a way of life , my life and a magical never ending dream with always a happily ever after !

My choir got to perform in Disney's Candlelight Processional in 2007. Afterwards we had 3 hours to spendin EPCOT. I have a CM who we were hoping would take us around the park with my friends. For a while I though he wouldn't be there. We were walking around the America Pavillion yelling "Wayne! Wayne!" All of a sunnden I hear, "Hayley!" And he was there. My friends' faces were pirceless, they thought he didn't exsist. He had Fastpasses ready for the 8 of us. We managed to eat and get 4 rides done in the 3 hours we had. Afterwards, all the groups were talking and nobody had got any rides done except our group. =D

My wife, daughter, and I went to WDW for the first time in Aug. 2008. The whole trip was absolutely amazing. A magic moment for us was on our last day. We had picked up Fast Passes for Space Mountain. We hadn't been on it, our whole trip. We came back and started going through the Fast Pass line and there was no one in the Fast Pass line. There was a huge line in the regular queue line. We walked all the way up to the end. There was an official looking cast member and two "newbies" waiting there. They asked if we'd ever been on Space Mountain before. We said no, to which they asked if we'd like a tour of the control booth. They brought us around to the back. At this point they had some technical difficulties and had to stop the ride and turn on the lights. After about ten minutes, they got it back up and running and brought us into the booth. They showed us all the controls and monitors. They gave my daughter a certificate that she got the tour. Then they escorted us to the front of the next train and we got on. Then after the ride, they met us at the exit. When we got outside we could not stop talking about how cool that was. We got my daughter on video saying "I didn't like Space Mountain...I LOVED IT!"
