About Vintage Walking Pictures
In the 1940s and 1950s, 'walking pictures' were a cultural phenomenon of their own.
A professional photographer set up his camera at a busy intersection, capturing pictures of the shoppers and strollers as they walked by. He would sell the pictures to these passerby 'models' and the result? A fantastic collection of ordinary life in the 40s and 50s. The fashion, the expressions were absolutely priceless.
Many families have these pictures stored away, and I've been interested in amassing a collection of them as a wonderful snapshot of the times.
If you have some of these pictures, or can shed some light on the history, please join in.
