This competition, in its sixth year, it is being run on Flickr for the fourth time! It closes on May 1st and has cash prizes!

The Theme
Entries are invited interpreting the theme of:

PORTRAYING GENDER

Photographers are invited to submit photos that portray women or men in ways that offer new perceptions about their roles and responsibilities. Such photos challenge conventional understandings of ‘femininity’ and ‘masculinity’ and help break the mould of the male-female ‘divide’.

Prizes
There will be one first prize and five commendations
- First prize $500
- Each commendation $200
The prizes will be paid by bank transfer or by Paypal.

Eligibility
The competition is open to all women, men and children, of all ages and from all countries. Entries from amateurs and professionals are welcome. There is no limit to the number of photographs that a person may enter, but no entrant may win more than one prize in the contest.

Format for entries
- Images must be loaded to this group
- Entries must be licenced under "Creative Commons" licence. This can easily be added under "Additional Information" next to each photograph.
- Entries should have a short description of what the image shows and why it is relevant.

Closing date
The closing date is 1 May 2009. The competition winners will be announced one week later. A selection of entries will be exhibited in Toronto and will be used in the WACC publications such as the website and the journal “Media Development”

Judging
A panel of judges will select the winners. All decisions by the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into. All winners will be contacted immediately after the results of the competition have been announced.
