Here is the first poem that I thought could make a great picture book.
THE LION IN THE CINEMA
He stood in the queue
And out came his paw,
As he got to the kiosk
He had five pounds no more,
He roared to the lady
“Please a ticket for one,
I may need two seats”
But by this time she’d gone,
He set off to screen nine
As he left the sweet store,
His long tail behind him
The Usher ran from the door,
He settled his self down
Comfy in his two seats,
Ice cream on his mane
With a large bag of sweets,
A little boy sat in front
With his bag of popcorn,
He turned to the lion
Who was starting to yawn,
“What large whiskers”
The little boy pointed out,
“They really do suit you
Like you’re rather large snout,”
The lion he purred
Wiped his mane with his paw,
Roared a huge thank you
Exercising his very big jaw,
“Would you like popcorn?”
The little boy shook his bag,
The contents looked nice
His large tail he did wag,
He roared a big thank you
As he dipped in his paw,
But he ripped the boy’s bag
And most dropped to the floor,
The tasty sweet popcorn
It scattered and fell
In between all of the seats,
The little boy started to yell,
“There there” purred the lion
“You can share my nice treats,”
He then opened his bag
To reveal lots of mixed sweets,
“Thank you Mr Lion
That is ever so kind,
I rather like Gummy Bears
So I hope you don’t mind,”
The lion stroked his whiskers
Leaned close to the boy,
“You take all your favourites
And I do hope you enjoy,”
The movie was starting
The little boy turned to see,
With half a dozen sweeties
Which he’d placed on his knee,
His 3d specs on his snout
The lion laughed and he roared
At all the film’s antics,
He was certainly not bored,
The film came to a close
And he purred with delight,
“I’ve had a very nice time
Now I shall bid you goodnight,”
He yawned and he stretched
The little boy shook his paw,
Then the lion left the cinema
As the usher hid behind the door.
