25 Feb 08 - "Rhythm is defined as the mind's reduction of variety to unity or its breaking unity into variety. It happens when certain beats are emphasized at regular intervals, and it requires that elements be organized temporally, through the mind being carried back and forth, to form a whole. It is not confined to the arts but is pervasive in our experience of time."

About Visual rhythmSo many photos in Flickr are very object-centered. In this group however the main thing is to appreciate visual rhythm of the picture. That of course does not mean that depicting an object would be forbidden - a pic is a pic of something. But please keep in mind the rhythm! Often those pics that depict connectedness or something going on (like tiny grasses or the leaves rhythmically vibrating in autumn trees) capture great rhythms. |
