About Vintage Calendar Art
A group for vintage calendar artwork. Be it little desk calendars or large hanging calendars, they're welcome here. We've all seen them when growing up, or at flea markets & antique shops. This was the artwork/photo images on those advertising calendars that the local butcher, furniture store, auto garage or other business would give away to their customers.
Additions to this group should be in the form of scanner images. Photographs of calendar art are OK, but photographing them might not give the best image, thereby limited the full effect of the artwork/photograph shown.
The main thing is they must be vintage, and by that we mean anything from whenever until around the late 1960's. The "artwork" can be art (painting, line drawing, etc) or photographic. If in doubt as to what fits here, take a look at the earliest additions here from Loungelistener, and take that as your guide.
We're not looking for home-made, "Retro" or reissue calendars. Just the real thing, please. We're also not looking for the calendar itself per se, just the artwork above it. (Unless, of course, the calendar itself has something nifty on it too.)
"Girly" calendar art is OK within reason, provided they're tasteful, or are presented in the more restrained way of old 50's, early 60's calendars. If in doubt, post it. If we feel it's not in the best interests of the group, we'll simply remove it, no hard feelings.
