Strange Vintage Fictions

FIRST of all, why not check out our brand spankin' new Strange Vintage Fictions Gallery where we will exhibit the work of one member of this pool in a two week show. Administration and guest curators will choose solo artists!

THE COLOR ISSUE: This group pool is for B/W and Sepia images ONLY. We caved a little and said, “OK, a teenie bit of color.” People still got mad. Monochrome but with a different color? Maybe. Read on.

We’ve had countless issues with this and it remains a tough thing to nail down, but here’s the feeling of all of the admin.------->

IF your photo stands out as being too brightly colored on a thumbnail page, it goes. We reserve the right to delete without informing you and at our discretion. Think of this as a constantly juried show. You enter a photo, it may or may not stay. Each admin has been given this right to delete, and their decisions will stand.

Images MUST be ALL of the following (and yes, these are difficult things to define, but check out the pool, do your images have the same feel?):

1. MUST be VINTAGE in appearance (subject matter, handling, use of old photos in images, treatment, etc.)
2. MUST be FICTITIOUS in some manner (staged, concocted, surreal, made up, fabricated, collaged, montaged, etc.)
3. MUST be STRANGE (obviously people have different ideas of strange, but what we don’t want is nice, sweet, pretty, lovely, etc. Again, look at the pool for an idea of what we’re looking for.)

PLEASE do not simply post old photographs that have had nothing done to them by you. As much as we all love looking at them, this group is about CREATIVITY first and foremost. Feel free to use old images to create NEW images that have a vintage appearance. Or fabricate one using all photoshop/collage/draw pad techniques you'd like to use.

We're about ***STRANGE, EERIE, DARK, FREAKISH, ABSURD, DARKLY FUN, INSANE, CREEPY, MANIC, ENIGMATIC, HAUNTING, SAD***

If your photo is deleted, PLEASE don't take it personally, surely your photo(s) are really wonderful, but just not quite right for this group. MANY, many groups are out there on the flickr highways, keep looking, chin up.

NEVER EVER post:
1. Pornographic photos
2. photos showing any cruelty to animals (including humans) (we have ZERO tolerance for this!)
