There have recently been major changes at the Viewfinder, with the closing of the Brixton Gallery and moving to an online model. Read more below and keep watching the web site for updates.

We know we have a talented group of supporters and hope this group will be a place to share work, discuss projects, seek advice and generally be enthusiastic about photography.

BIG CHANGES AT THE VIEWFINDER!

Our final exhibition in Brixton closed on 15 May 2011. The Viewfinder is now radically changing its approach to hosting exhibitions and events.

No fixed venue: Closing the physical gallery offers exciting opportunities: expanding and building on our innovative events programme, curating occasional pop-up exhibitions in a range of exciting venues, and developing a leading website to provide an online home for art photography.

New, improved website: We will launch a new website in June 2011, which will become a focal point for appreciating and enjoying art photography. We will bring you video-tours of other exhibitions you may not be able to visit in person, interviews with exhibitors and curators, news and information about not just the Viewfinder but also photography galleries and festivals across the UK and internationally.

Improved events: We will expand our workshop, events and outreach programme, but will also introduce exhibition meet-ups at other galleries, plus online talks and presentations.

New partnerships: We are delighted to become an Affiliate Organisation of the VASA-Project, an online media studies platform connecting individuals and communities on a global scale who have interest in media studies, photography and digital media arts.
