»Reflecting Reality«als Motto der siebten Vienna Art Week stellt aktuelle Verbindungslinien zwischen Wien als internationaler Kunstmetropole und ihrem Weltruf als Stadt der Psychoanalyse her. Das vom Dorotheum initiierte und vom Art Cluster Vienna veranstaltete Kunstfestival widmet sich 2011 in einer Reihe von Ausstellungseröffnungen, Podiumsdiskussionen, Galerienführungen, Performances sowie Veranstaltungen der Off-Szene der Interpretation von Kunst als Reflexionsmechanismus einer zunehmend komplexen Realität.

Individuelle psychische Bedürfnisse, soziokulturelle Dynamiken, der Umbruch politischer Systeme und die Sehnsucht nach Utopien werden durch Kunst einer Reflexion unterzogen. So spiegeln künstlerische Inszenierungskonzepte die Realität nicht nur wider, sondern entwerfen neue Modelle und nehmen gesellschaftliche Trends vorweg.

Individual psychic needs, socio-cultural dynamics, the upheaval of political systems and the desire for utopias are all subjected to reflection and analysis by art. So concepts of artistic staging not only reflect reality, but they design new models for it, thus anticipating social trends.
