30 Apr 12 - May 2012 is a two-fer in Cordova Bay/ Royal Oak: H22 and H23; H22 was last done in May 2007 and H23 is new. Remember to tag only ONE grid per photo.

Please remember to add your photos to the flickr map so that we can have an idea of where the photos are taken inside the grid. If you are not sure how to do this check out the FAQ

About Victoria Grid Project

Victoria Grid Project. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr

This is the Victoria Grid Project.
We are a group of photographers / people who like to take photos / people who own cameras / urbanists who have come together to document both the mundane and the spectacular areas of our city - Victoria, BC.

The idea has been taken from the Portland Grid Project in which once a month we randomly choose a 1 km grid from our map and document the area in any way that we can.

In our flickr group, this means photography.

In order to participate, we hope that you can follow the rules and be an active participant in the selection process. This means that each month there is a chosen grid area of the city for us to document each month.

Even though you may have an excellent photo of the grid, if it's from a different time frame it cannot be included. We suggest that if you can, go back and frame your photo once more in the same spot.

Post-processing is limited. We have decided that this group is mainly for documentation purposes. The challenge is to take a photo within the grid and month without changing the photo afterwards. We want the power lines, the dead leaves, the cars rushing by and the funny little kid sticking out his tongue. Please don't erase these later on. As well, please don't add objects to your photos of the grid - a bush, a dinosaur or the colour of the building.

To be able to come back to your photo three years from now, when we re-shoot the grid and see what things were truly like is our aim. If you alter the photo, we cannot know how things were. If you want to "clean up" your photo, please don't post this version to the grid.

Due to the membership increasing in size, we have also set a limit to 50 photos per month, which means per grid. You can post more photos on your personal flickr page, but we are trying to keep a limit of each of our best 50.

There aren't many rules, but it would helpful if everyone read them and stuck by them, okay?

Okay!
