About Souvenir pictures of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles is asking visitors from round the world to illustrate a history of souvenir photography at Versailles.

Why share your souvenir pictures?
Since photography began, many photographers have wanted to show Versailles' many facets. Most have been passionate amateur visitor-photographers wanting to share their visit with friends and family. The Palace of Versailles is planning to bring together examples of these photographs. A chronological frieze will eventually span decades and, perhaps, reveal some continuity in the common practice of souvenir photography.
Which pictures ?
We are seeking pictures showing visitors at Versailles. They can be alone, with family or friends, in the palace, in the Trianon palaces, Marie-Antoinette's Estate, gardens or park. Film pictures up to the early 2000s are the hardest to find, but they are also the most surprising: start rummaging through your family archives! The most recent pictures are the archives of tomorrow. Feel free to share them with us!
To thank you for your efforts, each month the palace website will feature a picture selected in a random drawing. The winner will receive a book or a catalogue from Editions du Chateau de Versailles. By joining the group, your pictures take part in the contest.
