About Vélo Flâneur
Cycling is a deeply aesthetic practice.
A group for people interested in the intersection of modernity and bicycling. Photos of bicycles, bicycle culture, riders, riding, and anything capturing the cinematic nature of pedaling through modernity. Vantage points hold special interest here. This is not about racing. The vélo flâneur/flaneuse enjoys everyday, utilitarian riding, randonneuring, jaunts through urban and natural terrain -- and watching, listening, and feeling.
The flâneur observed the unfolding metropolis of the ninteenth century in a disconnected manner. From behind the handlebars of a bicycle, one can survey architecture, society, art, politics, interaction, and even nature as a flickering rush of images. This group is not necessarily for the dispassionate, but attempts to capture the fleeting, but deep sense of connection as one rides through the city and country.
