This is a group for photos of places, people, and things THAT ARE VANISHING (or already vanished) from the city of New York. Restaurants about to close, buildings to be torn down, interesting old signage, bookstores that look like they're on their last legs, etc.
Please include descriptions, including location, if you can, and anything you'd like to say about it--if you have a fond memory of the place, etc.
By submitting photos here you give permission for me to possibly use your photo on my blog--I will, of course, add a link to your flickr page to credit you.
RULES (I'm posting the rules here because I don't think people are seeing them):
ALL PHOTOS must be of places, people, things, even concepts, that are vanishing or have vanished from New York City (not NY State). Old photos (pre-2000s) are cool, too.
"VANISHING" DOES NOT MEAN THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME.
If you post photos of things that are NOT VANISHING--like the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, kids playing in fountains, townhouses, dogs, sunsets, and other everyday NYC images--I WILL DELETE THEM when I get around to it. The Empire State Building will definitely be deleted. Sunsets will be deleted. The Brooklyn Bridge will be deleted. Etc.
If you think I've deleted your photo in error, please let me know. Sometimes I get delete-happy.
