About Vanishing Coast
The focus of this group is on the vanishing, unique coastlines of the world. It seems that the endless crush of condominiums, cookie-cutter t-shirt shops, cruise terminals, and chain hotels are rapidly destroying the unique character of so many beautiful and interesting places. You are invited to post photographs of coastal areas (seashores and large lakeshores alike) anywhere in the world that highlight their beauty and local flavor. The goal is to preserve in pictures what may soon be gone. Enjoy swimming in our little photo pool, and please leave comments!
The rules:
Be sure to include the name of the place in the title or description. If you have the time, tell us a little about it. We'd love it if you geotagged as well, but it is not required. Submissions should be limited to three photos per day. This is to allow everyone a greater chance to have their photos viewed from the top of the pool. Please do not post photos where a person, such as a friend or family member, is the main subject. Posting a photo featuring a person who is part of the local flavor, such as an artisan or street performer, is okay. Please also do not dump your entire file of vacation photos here. Choose the best shots that highlight the special character of the area. Any photos that appear to have been dumped in large amounts without forethought will be deleted.
