About Vanishing Texas
Congratulations to all the Best of Vanishing Texas inductees from Contest #2! Go to www.flickr.com/groups/vanishing_texas_best to check out our show case gallery.
Vanishing Texas is a group for photos of anything that represents what Texas used to be- open prairie, Spanish Moss over East Texas creeks and swamps, endless acres of wild flowers in season, historic court houses or buildings such as light houses, cemeteries and churches, ranches, farms, equipment (old tractors, buckboards, plows, etc) longhorns and horses, old barns and windmills, barbed wire or double twisted with cedar posts. Scenes from Texas life once taken for granted and now vanishing one ranch/farm and small town at a time with the spread of developments, toll roads, and strip malls.
Please only submit photos taken in Texas. The pictures can be old, such as a great grand parent taken at the turn of the century, or new taken from the side of the road yesterday. Please tell us a little bit about the picture so the history and the beauty will live on and can be shared by all.
