Saab, Talbot, Samara, Calibra and Porsche cars made in Uusikaupunki, Finland Saab-Valmet / Valmet Automotive car plant.

The car factory started production in Uusikaupunki in 1969 to build Saab cars mainly for the Finnish customers. However, the good quality and flexibility of the production opened the doors to export markets. For instance, in 1986, the following models were produced: Saab 90, Saab 900, Saab 900 CD, Saab 900 Convertible and Saab 9000. In the record year 1992, the grand total of Saab and Opel Calibra cars produced was 46,688 units. Saab production terminated in April 2003.

The production of the Porsche Boxster roadsters started in September 1997, the new Porsche Boxster in the autumn 2004, the new Porsche Cayman S in the autumn 2005 and the new Cayman in the summer 2006.

Saab 900 production was started in 1979 and ended in summer 1992 for the sedans. The cabriolet was made until model year 1994. All Saab 900 body styles and all engine variants has been made in Uusikaupunki. Practically all Saab 900's sold in Finland were made in Uusikaupunki.

Saab 900 Cabriolet and 2-door sedan (as well as the special Saab 90 with a 99 front attached to a 900 2-door sedan rear) have been made only in Uusikaupunki. In the late 1980's the 5-door versions and all RHD models were made only in Uusikaupunki.

The Talbots made in Uusikaupunki have some parts in common with the Saabs made there and can be recognised from the Saab front seats and headlight wipers.

(In some sources the factory may be known as Nystad plant because of the town's Swedish name.)
