About Blackstone Valley Barns

The Blackstone Valley extends from Worcester, Mass. to Providence, RI. It was created a National Heritage Corrider in 1986 by an act of congress. It is a region of nearly 400,000 acres. It has been called the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution.
The first mill in this country was Slater's Mill built alonside the Blackstone River in Pawtucket, R.I.

The Blackstone River was named for Reverend William Blackstone who was the original settler of Boston. He was also the first European to live in Rhode Island.
