ILLUMINATE UW-Madison Year of the Arts 2010-11
Illuminate: Year of the Arts spotlights the breadth, depth, power, and purpose of artistic exploration and expression at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
This group is a place for students, faculty, artists, and community members to share photos from and impressions of events throughout the year.
From September 2010 through August 2011, more than 300 performances, exhibits, symposia, public events, publications, distinguished visiting speakers, and on-line resources will celebrate:
- artistic process as a significant and integrated “way of knowing” – helping us see differently, and see more;
- the arts as a learning resource that advances understanding, empathy, insight, innovation, and proficiency across academic disciplines;
- the role of the arts as a civic and social catalyst – fostering global citizens, engaging pressing social issues, and providing opportunity for celebration, remembrance, healing, and reconnection;
- the legacy, vitality, and diversity of the arts on campus;
- the international reach and impact of our faculty, students, and alumni in arts, culture, entertainment, and creative expression.
Many special event are planned for ILLUMINATE UW-Madison Year of the Arts 2010-11.
