the architecture of jorn utzon.

we all admire the opera house from a distance - and should we be so lucky as to go there, we only see half the house the architect originally intended.

and how many of us have been to tehran to see the melli bank? or to kuwait city? from what I hear, parliament is closed to outsiders.

indeed, as we grow to admire this lone figure of late modernism, his work remains elusive. the aim of this group is to change that by patiently bringing together flickr images of his buildings, drawings, models, exhibitions, and - why not - his sources of inspiration.

9 out of 10 flickr utzon photos are long distance shots of the opera house. I hope to strike a more balanced view of his work here which may demand some moderation.

thus, sydney opera house pictures are by invitation only. if you have suggestions, post them in discussion!
