About Urban Displacement

This is a group about gentrification.

What is gentrification?

For some, gentrification might be about the geographical displacement of the poor by the rich, or "minority" groups by whites or other privileged groups, particularly in an urban setting.

For others, it might be about improving a neighborhood and bringing a certain kind of humanity back to the urban locale.

What we're looking for is the depiction of gentrification. Can you depict, in visual terms, geographical and cultural patterns of territorialisation and exclusion? Or can you photograph the ways that development and gentrification have brought about community in a place where previously there might have been only blight and decay?

Be prepared for photographs with a point of view. Be prepared for people with agendas. And most of all, be prepared to post your beautiful, ugly, incredible and mundane pictures of gentrification!
