About Straight up, Symmetric (Ceilings, etc)
The group is for photos that look like they were take straight up from beneath something interesting, in particular ceilings... but I'm prepared to consider other things that result in similar photos.
Note also the word "symmetric". To avoid deletion, photos must be symetrical about two axes which are perpendicular to one another, or radially symmetric. I suspect that having them parallel to edges of the photo is a good idea, but will not automatically delete exceptions to that rule.
Please... I know there are many, many fine photos of ceilings which do not meet the requirements set out above... I'm not saying they aren't good photos... but I think groups become valuable and interesting when they choose a theme and stick to it. I'd hoped someone else had already set up a group for the sort of photos I wanted to be able to browse through... and if you have, feel free to "advertise" in this group's discussions... but when I went to "From Below- straight up", which seemed promising, I found that the remit of the group is wider than what I was looking for.
"
One final requirement: While, again, there are many wonderful pictures of things that look like a view into a big dome, again to keep the group meaningful, can we agree that the photo should show something that is at least 3m (10 feet) across?
Please add the tag "up2d" to the photos you add to the group. (That let's people look at the group pool, but "most interesting" first.)
Deletions: I apologise to people who find their photos deleted. The overheads of sending communications about each are just more than I can face. I have deleted many GOOD photos. If your photo is deleted, please don't think I didn't like it... but ask yourself: Did it meet the group critera (above)? Is it essentially a duplicate of another? Sorry.
(Translations of the group name and description would be welcome... just send them as a message to Rob Roy 06... be sure to include the two spaces if you have to search to find the "message to" link.)
